Songes
With his wife as model, the artist shaped Songe as a quiet homage to the great French sculptors of the twentieth century — Maillol, Rodin, Bourdelle — for whom the female figure was both subject and muse. The woman is portrayed at rest, lost in her songes — dreams — serene and graceful, present yet seemingly carried into another world.
For the sculptor, Songe offers a contemplative pause: a moment to celebrate form, grace, and admiration for the feminine figure. Though his work often explores more experimental and emotional directions, he returns here to a traditional figurative language — not as a denial of the past, but as a reminder of its lasting beauty and influence.
